A New Addition! - The Regal Youth Book Club

The inaugural meeting for the "Regal Youth Book
Club" will be held on October 20, 2007. As the
proud founder of the "Regal Sisterhood Book Club"
I am pleased to announce this new addition to our
literary organization. It has been created to
address a growing need. The need for a society of
children who read more! It is my hope that this
book club will provide an environment which will
peak our teens literary awareness and improve on
their discussion and presentation skills. The
teens will probably meet at least four (4) times
per year. We will be mindful and respectful of
their school and family obligations.

The 1st book the teens will be reading
is "Keysha's Drama" by Earl Sewell. This novel has
received excellent reviews and comes highly
recommended. For this initial meeting, the parents
and the teens will read the same book and attend
the meeting together for the discussion. The book
can be found at WalMart and other common book
store chains. Check out the
websitewww.kimanitru.com.

Please make plans to attend. We are going to have
a wonderful time discussing this book and
socializing. Existing members without teens
please read the book and attend anyway. This is
our anniversary meeting and the book is a good
read on any level.

Regal Sisterhood April 2007 Outing

The Regal Sisterhood Book Club attended the
theatrical performance "I Wish I Had Waited"
presented by the Irving Black Arts Council at the
Irving Arts Center. The play is based on the
book, of the same name, by Sylvia Willis Lett. As
a group we decided to include our preteen and
teenagers in our outing this month, since this
play was geared toward them. The message of the
play was strong. Focusing on the importance of
sexual abstinence for our children. The story was
told from the viewpoint of 3 different teen girls,
each in very unique life changing situations due
to their decision to become sexually active. The
Regal Sisters saw this as an opportunity to
minister to our children while spending some
quality time with them and exposing them to the
wonderful world of the Arts. Before the
performance we dined at "The Olive Garden". Enjoy
our pics! We had a grand time.

Thanks to all who attended.

Regal Sister Anissa Irby & her son Kentrell.

Regal Sister Unsel Whitmire & her girls Brianne &
Alexis.

Regal Sister Cleopatra Stewart & her daughter
Alondria.

Regal Sister Andrea' Carr & her son Patrick.

Regal Sister Misty Irby & her sons Cameron &
Derrion.

Regal Sister Cindy Jennings (the only sister
without children. Young and carefree!)

2006 October - The S.W.A.P. Game

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/S-W-P-Game-Brian-
Smith/dp/0977793907/sr=1-
1/qid=1163054207/ref=sr_1_1/103-9125365-5275002?
ie=UTF8&s=books" target="_blank">"The S.W.A.P.
Game" by Author Brian W. Smith, </a> was
the
book read by the Regal Sisters for the month of
October. The book was chosen by Regal Sister and
Founder, Misty Irby. The book proved to be both
informative and controversial. While the
majority
of club members enjoyed the book and were able to
take in the lesson the story was meant to
deliver,
a few others had a problem getting past the
minimal graphic content of the book. Since the
Regal Sisterhood is built on the premise of
agreeing to disagree, I respect all comments both
positive and negative. We are all different in
mind, body and Spirit. Some sisters are able to
read the content, "take in the meat" and "spit
out
the bones", so to speak. This was a great
analogy
given to me by one of the Christian Authors from
the Faith and Fiction Fellowship Tour in Houston
this past weekend. In my opinion the author of
the
S.W.A.P. Game did a great job in telling the
story
of how a typical couple could fall into such a
trap. The best part of the book tells about the
consequences and risks that come along with such
decisions. Several members shared how they have
been slighly exposed to such activity and at the
time did not really know what was going on around
them due to naivety. I am grateful that Brian
told
this story. I can say without a doubt that
reading this book has enlightned me to this
growing sinful practice. As I was thinking and
contemplating the need to change the focus of the
reading selections for the Regal Sisterhood Book
Club, I realized that there is really no way to
escape some content that may make you feel
uncomfortable. Take the Holy Bible for
instance.
It is full of stories of infidelity,
homosexuality, back stabbing, deception and evil
doings. I could go on and on............... The
good news is that the moral of the story is
always
shown in the end. If you want to test the worth
of
a book, ask yourself if it teaches you the way
God
would have you go in the end? Does it show you
how faith in God can help you be victorious in
various circumstances? Does it teach you a
lesson
which will prevent you from walking down that
path? If you can awnser Yes, to any one of these
questions, the Holy Spirit is still working in
your life. In your daily walk you never know who
you will come in contact with and what their
circumstances will be. But as Regal Sisters we
want to be prepared and armed with knowledge
which
will help us Gain Abundant Life!
Special thanks to meeting attendees:
